The Walking Dead
As you turn on your T.V. or tune in to news clips on YouTube, or read the news from your favorite site or rss feed where ever you turn to seems to describe scenes from one of those nightmares you wish you could wake up from but can not. What on earth is going on? There is chaos in all shapes and sizes. It knows no boundaries. Just today, I watched a live protest in Paris. Another news clip showed the fires in California. Another clip talked about the presidential election and controversies and rioting expectations for November. Surging through these news articles are a lot of people with various Apocalyptic messages. Some have dreams of what will occur. Others set dates of huge disasters that will forever change our beautiful American political and economical system. So is this the end?
“7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.”
Mark 13:7-9
The Bible tells us that this, all this chaos, is expected. But wait there’s more. Worst things are about to happen that will affect the very beliefs and shake the ground we are standing on. If COVID-19 lockdowns were not enough to wake us up. Maybe the other disastrous things that promise to turn our first world country into a third world one will. For the sake of our friends, families, loved ones and ourselves I invite you to read the Bible. Don’t listen to the dreams and Biblical opinions that many others are massively inundating social media with. Just pray and study your Bible. In it you will find the truth.
There are many people that are walking dead. They are alive to entertainment but dead to everything else. I have family that read, hear and watch the news but neither are they moved by the pain and hurt of the victims nor do they see the need to change their current lifestyle in response to the disasters. They are not the only ones. Unfortunately, there are many that are walking dead.
Let’s prayerfully consider to study our Bibles and follow biblical examples of what we ought to do. Yes, we should be acting and reacting to what is happening around us. We can no longer do “business as usual” Now I’m not supporting reaction out of fear nor chaos. But with discerning, loving, aim to comfort and help those in need.
“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;” Romans 12:12
Is this the end of the world? No, but it is the beginning of sorrows. I pray that we plan to comfort and help those in need as we prepare for what is coming.
